New Yorkers Are Split On Plastic Bag Ban

(Hamden, CT) -- A new poll shows New Yorkers are split on Governor Cuomo's proposed plastic bag ban.

According to Quinnipiac University, 48 percent of folks surveyed support the idea. That's compared to 47 percent of people who are against it. The governor pitched the idea during his state budget address last week. He says the idea is to eliminate bags that don't biodegrade and end up hurting the environment. New Yorkers use billions of plastic bags each year.
