Metro-North Misses Positive Train Control Deadline

(New York, NY) -- The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says it needs more time to install Positive Train Control.

PTC is the technology meant to prevent deadly rail accidents. It was supposed to be completely installed on the tracks used by Metro North and the L-I-R-R by the end of this year.  New York Senator Chuck Schumer is calling out the MTA for missing the deadline. Positive Train Control is a crash prevention system that the federal government insisted all commuter rail lines have installed.
