Fatal School Bus Collision In Dutchess County

One person was killed and five other taken to a hospital after a head-on collision this morning between a Red Hook School Bus and a car on South Quaker Lane in Hyde Park.

Town of Hyde Park Police say it happened at about 8am when the northbound car and the southbound school bus collided. The driver of the car was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The three students, along with the driver and monitor on the school bus were all transported to Mid -Hudson Regional Hospital for evaluation.

Hyde Park Police were assisted by the Pleasant Valley Fire Department, Mobile Life Ambulance, Roosevelt Fire Department members, New York State Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Dutchess Ambulette and Dutchess County Medical Examiners Office.
