A Japanese brewer will build its first brewery in the United States near the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.
The Asahi Shuzo Company plans to brew sake at a site near the Hyde Park campus. The 28 million dollar brewery will be built at the corner of Route 9 and St Andrew’s Road and creating at least 32 new local jobs.
CIA President Dr. Tim Ryan says, "We are honored that they chose to build their first U.S. operation in the CIA's backyard, and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.” The CIA plans to put together a full academic concentration in Japenese food, beverage and culinary culture.
