Four Brands Of Dog Food Are Being Withdrawn

(New York, NY) -- Four brands of canned dog food are being withdrawn because they might be contaminated with a drug used  to euthanize dogs.

The company that makes Gravy Train, Kibbles 'N Bits, Ol' Roy, and Skippy is voluntarily withdrawing them after pentobarbital was found in some cans of Gravy Train. Pentobarbital is used as an anesthetic, sedative, or to euthanize animals. The FDA says preliminary tests of Gravy Train samples showed low levels of the drug that are unlikely to pose a health risk to animals. But the manufacturer says any level of pentobarbital in the food is unacceptable to them.
