(New York,NY) -- The impact of online shopping continues to take its toll on retailers.
Sears Holding Corporation announced yesterday that 45 Kmart stores around the country closing in January. Sears says employees will get severance, if eligible, and a chance to apply for openings at other locations. In addition to the 45 Kmarts, 18 Sears stores will also close. No stores in New York are on the latest list.
Last year the Kmart store in South Hills closed in the Town of Poughkeepsie and previously the company announced the Kmart on Route 32 in Vails Gate will close by the end of this year.
