New Tappan Zee Bridge Opens To Traffic

(Tarrytown, NY) -- The new Tappan Zee Bridge is opening to Rockland-bound traffic tonight.

Governor Andrew Cuomo cut the ribbon yesterday on the three mile span that officials say is built to last 100 years. The Westchester bound side is expected to be completed later in the fall. The bridge, recently named the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, has eight lanes compared to seven on the old one. The total project cost nearly four billion dollars.

Cuomo calls the bridge a symbol that shows the state and nation what hasn't been done in years, referring to investing in big infrastructure.
