A Town of Poughkeepsie Police officer saved a woman from jumping off the Walkway Over the Hudson.
Police say a suicidal 19 year old woman fled from the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital Tuesday and ran to the Walkway. An officer giving chase was able to grab the woman as she had one leg over the railing getting ready to jump. With the help of a Town of Lloyd Police Sergeant, he was able to restrain the woman.
The officer sustained a minor injury during the incident. The woman was returned to the hospital to undergo a mental health evaluation.
