Falcons Make Home On Bridge

(Tarrytown, NY) -- The Tappan Zee Bridge is now home to a couple of baby falcons.

The female peregrine falcon who has taken up residence at the top of the bridge is believed to have laid a bunch of eggs last month. The babies were spotted yesterday on the Thruway Authority's live camera feed, although it's not known when the eggs actually hatched.

The falcons, which are endangered, seek out high spots like the Tappan Zee because they provide a decent vantage point to seek food. Elementary and middle school students can get a chance to name the baby birds in a contest that runs through April 28th.
