(New York, NY) -- Today is Holy Thursday, marking the day of the Last Supper and the washing of the apostles' feet by Jesus.
In Rome, Pope Francis is washing and kissing the feet of prisoners at a maximum security jail. Many local churches hold services this evening.
In the UK, Queen Elizabeth distributes money to 91 senior citizens on what is commonly called Maundy Thursday there. It is in recognition of their service to their churches and local communities. She also takes part in a royal church service.
